NASA Honors Four Outstanding Scientists for Their Contributions

Four exceptional NASA scientists are being celebrated for their pivotal roles in groundbreaking space missions and research initiatives.

Lora Jovanović, a research scientist with the Astrophysics Branch at the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute, is receiving recognition for her substantial contribution to the Optical Constants Database. Her work has dramatically expanded the available datasets, increasing the number of recorded optical constants from 297 to an impressive 533. These data points are crucial for scientists interpreting information gathered by missions such as SPHEREx, Cassini, New Horizons, and Juno, significantly improving the accuracy of our understanding of celestial objects. Serving as the Science Directorate’s Contracting Officer’s Representative for the FILMSS-2 task, she successfully educated and supported task requestors while developing streamlined processes. Donovan's resourceful and persistent efforts significantly simplified the entire task management process, showcasing her commitment to operational efficiency. Jaden Ta, as a deputy project manager in the Earth Science Project Office, is being commended for her leadership on the Earth Venture Suborbital FarmFlux investigation. She spearheaded the creation of the project’s Investigation Implementation Plan and played a key strategic role in selecting optimal deployment locations for the research aircraft, directly contributing to the mission’s success.
