NASA astronauts Jack Hathaway and Jessica Meir are currently preparing for a unique outreach event in collaboration with the University of Missouri Pre-Employment Transition Services. On Thursday, April 30th, at 10:50 a.m. EDT, the astronauts will answer prerecorded science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) questions submitted by students in grades K-12 and members of the community. This event, streamed live on the agency’s Learn With NASA YouTube channel, will allow students to get a close-up look at the Dragon spacecraft and gain insights into the daily operations of the International Space Station.
The event highlights the ongoing research and technological advancements taking place aboard the space station, which has been continuously occupied by astronauts for over 25 years. These activities, including testing technologies, conducting science, and developing skills, are vital for future missions to the Moon and, ultimately, Mars as part of NASA’s Artemis program. The exploration efforts are directly supporting the development of skills needed for a new Golden Age of innovation and discovery.
